I’m Dawn, a recent college grad and immigrant to New York City. However, I’m a long-time environmentalist with current interests ranging from environmentally preferable purchasing to green product marketing to living outside the capitalist system.

Nutshell Bullet Points:

  • May 2007 graduate of New College of Florida in their Environmental Studies program.
  • Thesis: Waste Not, Want Green: Waste Reduction Through Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (A 2.5 year case study based upon my work with Whole Foods Market’s Florida Region.)
  • I’ve worked on the Green Mission program at Whole Foods Market for over 4 years. This experience includes packaging reform, waste auditing, establishing marketing programs highlighting “green” choices, apparel ordering reform, and much much more. In addition to my regional work, I basically acted as the point person for maintaining environmental accountability at my store.
  • I’ve set up recycling systems in a variety of settings including commercial kitchens, public access areas, and at a college.
  • I managed a “Green Choice Buying Club” (green purchasing co-op).
  • I also worked at the Sarasota Green Connection, where they specialized in connecting people with green products and services. Near the end of my employment with them, I acted as the Supply Systems Manager where I managed distributorship relations for our green product showroom.

I found your blog using the “go to a random blog” feature at wordpress.

I work for the National Park Service, so I’m kinda green by default.

    Enjoyed your posts.
